Why photography?

The reason it all started probably comes across as quite sad and emotional, but it is not really as bad as it sounds.

My mental health took a heavy knock in early 2017, and one thing I realised was my lack of a relaxing outdoor hobby. Photography was already something I considered but I had no spare funds to kick-start the process.

I sadly lost my mother at the end of 2017 and inheriting some money gave me the chance to dip my toe in the water!

I then purchased a camera and some half decent glass (lenses for those not familiar with the jargon). The rest as they say is history.

Now 6 years on I enjoy outings to several different locations, always learning more about this complex pastime and getting fresh air and exercise along the way.

I must add that it is not just the picture taking that I enjoy, it is the whole process - deciding the location, watching the weather, the preparation whether it be clothing or camera gear, the journey to the location, the walk, the picture capturing and often best of all meeting new people. For me there is nothing not to like (unless the weather is really bad)!
