The locations

It would be unfair to have used any other picture that leads to this blog other than that of the RSPB & Barr Loch in Lochwinnoch. The vast majority of my learning process and landscape/bird shots were taken at this location. It is easy for me to travel there and there are lovely quiet areas to get your head around what you are trying to achieve with the camera and simultaneously forget about the hassle and bustle of everyday existence.

There are of course other locations,

  • RSPB Barons Haugh (Motherwell)

  • RSPB Loch Lomond

  • RSPB Loch Leven

  • Cathkin Marsh

  • Lochwinnoch Waterfall

  • Largs (near the pencil)

  • Largs (Kelburn Country Park)

  • West Kilbride (Seamill)

  • Blair Drummond Safari Park

  • Aberfoyle

  • St Andrews

  • Several zoo facilities

  • and not to forget, my back garden!

One of the best bits about getting around various locations is the chance to meet like-minded people, enjoying then same hobby and the nature we all too often take for granted.

I have now joined several social media groups sharing my pictures and stories and the people are all so pleasant. I hope to do so for some time to come.

I write this in November 2024 and I have several new locations in my sights. Half the fun is trying to find the places and, once found, where to see the wildlife.

Places on my agenda,

  • Bogside  Flats

  • Dalmellington

  • Ayr Pier

  • Fail Loch

  • Slamannan

  • Turnberry Lighthouse

  • Dipple

  • Balkenna

  • Girvan

  • Ardrossan

  • Dumfries House

  • Symington

  • Culzean

  • Trabboch
